Jacob Lee Hansel is a Wisconsin-based art educator and independent artist of the Fox Valley. His professional background as a graphic designer and fascination with traditional art forms have shaped him as an artist. Finding joy in the profoundness and complexity of portraiture has led him to develop a portfolio of oil portraits in a range of styles from classically inspired to contemporary abstract. Jacob's dedication to the arts extends into his professional career as an art educator. Today, he works to push himself technically and creatively, while also guiding the next generation of emerging artists on their creative journeys.

About the Show:
"Shaping Likeness" is a reflection of my journey as an artist. Each piece represents a new challenge, a new opportunity to grow, and the next step in my creative pursuit. For me, the process is the most valuable aspect of my work — the struggles, the failures, the practice, the successes — they’re what shape me. The experience is what I get to take away; the finished pieces are simply the result of it all. When I look at my work, I don’t see portraits of other people — I see myself.
